I found being with my mother at the time of her death a deeply moving experience. I noticed that the process of dying – the shutting down of external stimuli and the all consuming focus on body and breath, can be very similar to the trance-state of childbirth.
This experience caused me to look at ancient Sheela-Na-Gig stonecarvings from a different perspective, and create my own offering to the genre.
In tribute to my mother Irmgard Wolf Churchill.
