Romanesque Saints

A pair of statues based on an image of two Romanesque altar figures in an auction catalogue.
I carved them concurrently so that their forms developed in harmony from every angle. It worked – the dialogue between the two figures is constant, but alters as their positions change.

Client feedback:
“We are amazed that things so small can have such power. Ideally they’d revolve on plinths, but we’ll just turn them round for different angles every so often. They need to be together rather than at either end of the mantelpiece – again, a tribute to your skill”.
