Tuition: Stone Carving Workshops

"Creativity is contagious, pass it on" - Albert Einstein :>)

Three-day courses in Stone Carving

Non-residential courses held throughout the year in my workshop in Cambridge. Small group size, so plenty of individual attention given. (3 students, 4 by special arrangement).

An enjoyable workshop teaching professional stone carving techniques. After three days tuition you will have picked up enough skills to continue carving on your own.

You will learn:

  • Tool skills, and carving techniques
  • How to work in three-dimensions
  • How to sharpen your chisels
  • What tools you will need, and where to buy them
  • Where to locate stone
  • How to build a work bench (banker)
  • How you can develop your skills further

No set project - I'll guide you through whatever idea you have in mind.

Tuition is from Saturday morning to Monday afternoon. All tools and materials provided, plus copious amounts of delicious food throught the three days.

Get in touch to discuss available dates.

"Lucy is not only a brilliant carver and sculptor, but she has that rare ability to impart her expertise to others with skill, humour and encouragement. I thoroughly recommend her courses".

" The most enjoyable thing I have done in years!  With an office-based job with long hours, it was fantastic to be able to do something creative.... It is surprising what's possible to achieve with no previous experience.  I can't wait to do a follow-up".

"I attended Lucy's course as an absolute beginner, and her friendliness and supportive approach ensured that I came away with both the skills to start working on my own, and a sculpture of my own that I'm really pleased with".

I have run stone carving workshops since 2007, and am insured and qualified as both a carver and a tutor.
